Jim’s WebLetter for 9/15/12

Hi-ya Folks!

This week, I have several things to bring to your mailbox worth a look. Among them is this article I found in BBC News …
A number of stories are surfacing about companies using Chinese factories to build their products only to find that the result is defective materials. That extends to infected computers too, according to Microsoft. Their findings are in a report on malware apparently being put in the computers as they are being built at the factory. This conclusion came after purchasing several computers and hand held devices from factories in several Chinese cities and analyzing them. Here’s the low down from BBC News … http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-19585433

Have you come across a YouTube video you’d like to download and keep or use in a presentation? Here’s a site to bookmark so you can grab and keep the video in a format you can use. The site is KeepVid. http://keepvid.com/

Child librarians from the American Library Association have a site with a listing of the best educational sites on the internet for kids. This listing is pretty extensive and is a good source for parents to help kids with their homework, as well. While there, check out the site of the week. http://gws.ala.org/

Finally, Google has a fun little search term you can use to discover what relationship any certain movie star has with Kevin Bacon. I know, big deal, right? But, after the six degrees of separation he was known for, this makes a fun addition. Read more about it in USA Today (which this week updated their iPad app and website – love it) … http://usat.ly/O1I6ue

Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his Grandmother’s house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served. When Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away. “Johnny! Please wait until we say our prayer.” said his mother. “I don’t need to,” the boy replied.
“Of course, you do “his mother insisted. “We always say a prayer before eating at our house.”
“That’s at our house.” Johnny explained. “But this is Grandma’s house and SHE knows how to cook.

It was a really hot day at the office due to a malfunction with the air conditioning system. There were about twenty people in close quarters and everyone was sweating, even with a fan on.
All of a sudden, people started to wrinkle their noses at an odor passing through the air. It was the most hideous smell anyone had ever smelled.
One man, popping his head out of his cubicle, said, “Oh, man! Someone’s deodorant isn’t working.”
A man in the corner replied, “It can’t be me. I’m not wearing any.”
(thanks, Glenn)
Have a great weekend friends, and until next weekend, may God bless you and keep you safe.
