Hi-ya Facebook fans and Free Two-Day Shipping lovers!
Last week, I told you about BitTorrent TV being the newest alternative to cable TV. This week, another entry was announced into the ever-increasing selection of cord-cutting program providers. It was reported Facebook is jumping on the streaming media bandwagon, too.
Yes, Facebook is building a TV-style video app and is seeking publishers to create exclusive TV-like content for it. They’re in talks with various media companies for licensing original content, to be made available on the app. The company’s video programming content would be 10 minutes long ranging from scripted shows to sports and entertainment.
Why the shorter length when TV’s shows average 30-60 minutes? Several reasons come to mind: Bandwidth costs are much higher, space for video storage is much larger, and attention spans on mobile devices are much shorter. Even, according to Nielsen ratings, the average large screen view time is becoming shorter, with the exception of major sporting events like this weekend’s Big Game. http://www.businessinsider.com/tv-ratings-decline-2015-9
To begin, Facebook TV will stream on Apple TV with other devices in the works. https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/31/facebook-streaming-tv-app/
Have you heard? Amazon.com just got competition for two-day free shipping from Walmart. Go online to Walmart.com and order any of some two million products and get free shipping. Here’s the added bonus: you don’t have to purchase a membership, like with Amazon in order to get the two-day free shipping.
The range of items include “everyday essentials,” like household products, baby needs, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, beauty products, electronics, toys and grocery items that don’t need refrigeration. There is one thing … Walmart’s free shipping requires customers spend at least $35.00. http://www.walmart.com
That’s it this week. Have a great weekend and may God bless you and keep you safe.
