Jim’s WebLetter for 4/8/17

Hi-ya iPad folks and those thinking about owning one!

My wife and I want to buy the new iPad, dubbed “2017” or “the latest model” depending on where you want to buy it. You see, instead of it being called Air 3, Apple is releasing an iPad that, where it isn’t a dramatic improvement over the previous tablets, nonetheless provides HD quality picture, a faster processor than the Air 1 model, and best of all, is priced at $329 for the 32 gig model.

Although we are both Android phone users, we agree the iPad has what we like in a tablet. Until recently, the argument for owning an iPhone and iPad is they are compatible with each other, but with Google programs, I can share content between phone and tablet, so there is no need to own an iPhone just because I have an iPad.

I like the versatility of Android, not to mention the cheaper price for a phone that offers many features not found in iPhones today … like for instance, I recently added a bigger, longer lasting battery to my phone, and I have installed a launcher app that lets me change the look and functionality of the home screen. My current launcher is Smart Launcher … https://www.smartlauncher.net

I have read reviews from iPad writers who were given a model to sample. Some pointed out reasons for the cheaper price, which is about half the cost of previous models as the image wasn’t as clear and clean as the Pro models. But regardless, Apple is working to keep the iPad going in a market that is slowing because Android tablets are selling much better.

For me, the Apps are what make any tablet you own and I like many of the apps found in the Apple Store such as Garage Band, now improved with more sounds and loops. (Great for building music backgrounds for video.)  http://www.apple.com/ios/garageband/   I have also found I can edit website content, build posters and write this WebLetter on iPad, just to name three things, because of the Apps.

My wife likes her iPad for reading books from Amazon and playing her favorite games.

Whether you own an iPad or are thinking about owning one of the new, low priced models, check out this article from Business Insider which gives good advice on apps and accessories … http://www.businessinsider.com/best-apple-ipad-apps-accessories-to-own-2017-4

I’ll let you know what we think of the new iPad model in the coming weeks.
That’s it this week. Have a great weekend and may God bless you and keep you safe.
