Hi-ya!

Wanna see some really nice photos? Everyone loves to take photos of things they see, and particularly from places they’ve been. A friend of mine takes sunrise and sunset photos here on Amelia Island with stunning results. Check out his Facebook page … Island Sunrise and Sunsets … https://www.facebook.com/IslandSunriseAndSunsets/

Whenever we travel, I always take shots of places we go because it’s great remembering where we were and what we did when we see the images later. Sometimes I create picture videos, add a little theme music and put them on YouTube as a means of storing the memories. Here’s one from our trip to the Isle of Capri when we were in Italy …   As a sidebar, the photo of the dog … he was the largest basset hound I’ve ever seen.

The thing is, if you’re not an expert photographer, your end result may be, can we say, less than spectacular.

Google Maps has been working with Artificial Intelligence to create stunning images from pictures that have been added to the Maps system. By feeding the deep learning computer system professional grade photos, AI was able to interpret other images and enhance them. As a result, you can see remarkable looking images from original pictures that were shot.

What’s especially interesting about all this is that AI is capable of adjusting colors and tones to different parts of each photograph which makes for dramatic lighting and more compelling images.

Imagine in the future this research added to Google Photos’ editing tools, or in the company’s other mobile editing app, Snapseed. Then you’ll see something you will remember for a lifetime.

There’s a gallery set up to see examples of the AI work that includes the Google Map location below each photo. Just tap or click the photo to see the result. https://google.github.io/creatism/
