Jim’s WebLetter for 8-5-17

Hi-ya Mobile device users!

Is your cell battery charged?

What you’re going to do today is get Google Assistant integrated into your device. You’re installing this new updated app because, frankly, it can do so much to improve your day’s activities, you’ll wonder how you spent so much time without it. Seriously.

When the they began, personal assistants were good for adding a date to a calendar or opening an app. Today, its all that and more. So much more.

Google has spent millions buying Artificial Intelligence companies in an effort to enhance its Assistant program.

Stone Temple Consultants posed a study of 5000 questions to test the leading Assistant programs, Siri, Cortana, Alexa and Google Assistant. Based on their test and it’s result, Google Assistant scored the highest – by far with most correct answers and fastest response. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4078591-google-assistant-smarter-siri-cortana-alexa

So to begin, I have found two excellent sources to walk you through the process to adding Assistant to your mobile device. Note that the entire process may take you a few minutes to perform. The end result is SO worth your time.

This instruction article is for iPhones and iPads … https://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-set-up-use-google-assistant-on-iphone-ipad/

If you have an Android phone, you have the advantage of Google already. Older phones may not have Assistant installed. Go to the Google help page here … https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7172657?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en&oco=0

Both these links provide information for installing and to begin using Assistant in your device.

Once you have installed it and set it up … Now, let’s have some fun!

Tech Gumbo has released a short video that walks you through many of the features and tricks you can enjoy with Google Assistant. This is the video you should watch with your Assistant at the ready as they show step-by-step how to enhance your experience. I highly recommend watching this video as they show you the easy things first, then as you become more comfortable using Assistant, show you the more advanced commands. https://youtu.be/79ZR4O2_xhw

Like anything else, practice makes perfect, so work with Assistant and it will learn from you and become a real asset to your mobile experience.

My favorite Google Assistant has to be “OK, Google … I’m bored”. I promise, you try it, and you won’t be!
