Jim’s WebLetter for 8/26/17

Hi-ya Facebook friends!

Hope you’re having a good weekend. At this writing, the folks over on the Texas coast are having a lousy weekend as Hurricane Harvey is wreaking havoc and appears will be for some time. As a youngin’, I lived in Corpus Christi for awhile, so I ask for prayers for that area including Padre Island, Flour Bluff, Port Lavaca, and Portland.

Today, I want to show you what I came across and will be working with on Facebook pages I manage, as well as my own.

Better Facebook is a free application for Chrome browsers that does what it says … it will customize your Facebook page. You do need a desktop or laptop computer to import and set up the application on your browser, but once you do, it opens up a world of new possibilities to your Facebook page.

With Better Facebook for Chrome you can customize your layout and change the way Facebook works. And to make it easy, Better Facebook provides you with a list of options you can toggle to improve your Facebook experience from the get-go.

Things like, changing the header and background colors, and add a background photo, too. Remove ads from the sidebar and hide sponsored posts from the newsfeed. Change your mouse cursor to something more fun.

If that was all this little app did, that would be fine. But, like TV Infomercials all like to say, “But Wait!” … there are a bunch more features available.

You can choose your own font style for text and adjust the size, zoom photos quickly to fullscreen so you can see them better, round the corners of pictures to make them fit in better, widen the newsfeed stream so you can see more at one time, and even pop out videos so you can play them while you continue to browse.

Once you install the application, go to Facebook and look for the little blue icon in the top right of your address bar. Click the icon to open the options menu and turn on features you want. Just remember, all features listed start in the off position.

The Better Facebook for Chrome people say they’re dedicated to keeping their application updated and current. They even encourage you to send all your cool ideas to them through their Facebook page. Sounds like Facebook pages will begin to look, well, better!

Now go have fun!
