Jim’s WebLetter for 8/19/17

Hi-ya TV viewers!

Who’s your favorite performer this year on America’s Got Talent?  https://www.nbc.com/americas-got-talent

OK, I know this is a departure from my typical write about all things dealing with the Web, but honestly, AGT is ALL OVER the Web with this latest season of acts competing for a million dollars.

Something my wife pointed out to me is that the show might change its name to “America’s KIDS Got Talent” as the older acts are being eliminated and the kids, as young as 9, are moving forward.

If you just keep the children performers in the finals, you would have all seven spots filled with the oldest at 15.

Want to see and decide for yourself who’s the best? Just YouTube America’s Got Talent and watch their video replay from one of their performances.

Last years’ winner was Grace VanderWaal who returned on last Wednesday evening’s show to perform her latest release, “Dancing in the Moonlight”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws7LIcH3tuc

What was remarkable about Grace last year was the fact that the then 12 year old played and sang all her own songs she had written. Here’s a compilation of auditions she performed on AGT … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTIMH9BGyfk

This year, the young talent includes a 12 year old ventriloquist who can sing like none other and has the most adorable puppets. Her name is Darci Lynne. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paIYpech9pY and the latest performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83nqxm32lsY

Here’s the thing about Darci Lynne, whose last name, by the way is Farmer. This young lady has been singing since she was little (about the age of 5), and became interested in puppets and learning ventriloquism at the age of 10 when she saw it performed in her church.

If you’ll notice, each of the young acts that make it to the next round have a unique story about themselves, and can sing. Yep, note to parents … if your child has a unique life story and can really belt out a song, AGT auditions are held all over the country. Just sayin’.

Evidence of that very thing is another young lady in the competition by the name of Angelica Lane. When she speaks, this 9 year old has remarkable manners, and has a sweet smile. When she sings, it’s another person inside that little body as she hits the high notes and really works a song to thunderous applause. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RjJLXY0BwQ

So of the acts remaining, who do I think will win this year’s competition and take home the big check? Folks, I believe Darci will win. Here’s a clip of her doing her act on Steve Harvey’s Little Big Shots TV show after she began learning how to “throw her voice”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X1nPsafKdk
