Hi-ya Web connected readers!
It’s the festival this weekend in Fernandina Beach. The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival (yes, we still recognize the Confederate flag as one of the flags that flew over the island. It’s called history, folks) and again, thousands of people are descending on Amelia Island to enjoy probably the best festival a small town puts on anywhere. Arts and crafts, antiques and music, and food. Lots of food including local shrimp, which is what Fernandina is really all about. This was the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry. And now, 53 years into the annual festival, its organizers continue to make improvements as best they can with the space provided. After all, like we say here, they aren’t making any more island on the island. All in all, it’s a sure fire bet for a fun thing to do for a day, or return on Sunday to make it a fun weekend. Making money on the Internet. I remember years ago when the model for making money was first introduced and the concept of enjoying a free internet began to change. At that time, you could enjoy free games and free software. Now, if a game is free, it usually comes with ads and fee base advances to enable the player to keep playing. On today’s Web, apps and software are for sale. Advertising is producing record volumes of cash with large companies trading stock and boosting their bottom lines. A report released this week said that Facebook made almost $12 per registered user over the first quarter of this year. Facebook now has some 1.65 billion users. You do the math. The positive coming from this is two-fold. Companies make money and companies hire people. Can you imagine where the world economy would be right now if monetization hadn’t happened? The New York Times has the story about Facebook becoming a money making machine. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/30/upshot/how-youre-making-facebook-a-money-machine.html?ref=technology&_r=1
And this week, Kim Komando released an article in USA Today giving 5 ways to make or save money using the Web. Read about it or watch her video with personal remarks that anyone can follow. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/columnist/komando/2016/04/29/five-ways-save-money-tech/83650542/
That’s it this week. Have a great weekend and may God bless you and keep you safe.
