Hi-ya Friends and Neighbors!
If you use Google Now on your computer, you are probably getting mostly positive results from the service. It has made great strides in interpreting voice commands and research. I came across this article in Tech Radar this week that I thought you should take a look at. It features a few things I already knew about, but using it to text someone without even touching the phone or tablet is really great. See what you think … http://www.techradar.com/us/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/10-brilliant-google-now-tips-and-tricks-1298753
Facebook has continued to work on their News Feed by attempting to make news stories more interesting. Now they’re putting options into your hands by updating the priorities in the Settings. To make changes in the news stories you see, go into Settings and News Feed Preferences. The updated News Feed Preferences tool now allows users to prioritize people, Pages and Groups, therefore controlling what content shows up on the top of their feed. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/07/09/facebook-newsfeed-update/29908855/

A lot of news lately about sharks. Shark sightings. Shark attacks. Did you see the great white that jumped out of the water while one was being filmed eating bait from a rope? http://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/video/up-close-and-personal-with-great-white-sharks-481439811589 So there’s a lot of emphasis being focused on these creatures. Of course, shark attacks are nothing new, but I’m not writing about that. Plainly, if you’re at the beach and sharks have been sighted, just stay out if the water. What I do want you to see is the story that compiles what oceanographers have been working on in tracking sharks. Now the detailed charts are available for everyone. If nothing else, you can see where they swim at a beach near you. http://mashable.com/2015/07/10/shark-trackers-online/
Finally this week, I came across a video that is a mashup between the new animated movie Inside Out with the music from the movie Inception to create a new movie trailer called Incept Out. Clever … http://mashable.com/2015/07/07/inside-out-inception-mashup/

A very old man lay dying in his bed. In death’s doorway, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookie wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands.
With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death’s agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out on newspapers on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies.
Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man? Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table. The aged and withered hand, shaking, made its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when he was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife.
“Stay out of those,” she said. “They’re for the funeral.
And that’s what I have for you this weekend. Until next weekend, may God bless you and keep you safe.
