Hi-ya WebLetter readers!

Lots to report this week with Apple releasing it’s latest operating system, IOS 9. In short, the new update has iPad and iPhone features that make work and play life almost worth the high price for the devices. Seriously, can you imagine paying more than $800 for the new iPad Pro? I’ve read the real reason why Apple is offering the 12.9 inch device along with it’s own keyboard is it could be the replacement for the MacBook offering the best of both worlds. Tablet and laptop. http://9to5mac.com/2015/09/15/ipad-pro-versus-macbook-opinion/

But with the release of IOS 9, the list of the new features. You first need to set up your device before installing it. Once you do, you’ll want some guidance on setting it up. CNET came through with this article from Kent German. http://flip.it/wNCZS

Now before you check your Settings/General/Software Update to download and install the new IOS, consider the past. If you’ll remember the calamity of IOS 8 that forced Apple to push out updates until they could fix all the issues. Dial back a little further in tech-time and we had the same story with IOS 7. So, unless you’re dying to try the new notifications, the split-view option, or the reader feature in Safari, just give it a few days to fully bake before installing. Once you do, it seems that the majority of users are downloading and installing Ad Blockers from the App Store. One of the new additions to IOS 9 is ad blocking and the Settings offers a choice of what App you’d like to include. http://techcrunch.com/2015/09/17/a-day-after-ios-9s-launch-ad-blockers-top-the-app-store/

Something I have been seeing lately is the return to desktop email programs. Known as Clients, email software is installed on the computer, rather than Webmail which is accessed solely using a browser logging into a webpage, like Gmail. So what’s the advantage to a client over Webmail? MakeUseOf’s article “You Should Ditch Webmail for a Desktop Email Client If …” gives you different scenarios. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/desktop-email-clients-better-webmail/

Last this week, here is a website from the U.S. Energy Information Administration I found chock full of information about energy … from energy basics to forms of energy and from using to conserving. Your k ids can go on virtual field trips across the country with Energy Ant through engaging photo journals, and teachers can find lesson plans, guides, links, and suggested ways of using the website in the classroom. http://www.eia.gov/kids/index.cfm

“Sir, your daughter says she loves me, and she can’t live without me, and she wants to marry me.”
“And you’re asking my permission to marry her?”
“No, I’m asking you to make her leave me alone.”
(Thanks, Chet)

When I had a job at the photo-developing counter of a pharmacy, the film was sometimes developed incorrectly. If this occurred, we did not charge our customers.
Once a man came to pick up his pictures, which were marked $0.00, indicating that not one of them had turned out right. The customer asked to see the photos, and when I noticed the odd splotches of color all over the pictures, I apologized profusely.
“Oh, no, these are fine,” he said happily. “I’m a microbiologist. These are my bacteria cultures.”
(Thanks, Thomas)

Have a great weekend and may God bless you and keep you safe.
