Today begins a new era for America. Jobs are #1, Google goes Toontastic and the Super Bowl is right around the corner. Get this and more on today’s WebLetter!
A new man is President. Donald Trump is preaching prosperity for America and has struck deals with several major corporations that have vowed to bring money and jobs back to America, even before he took the oath of office. But jobs are also being created by several U.S. tech companies who are providing paid apprenticeship with an eye toward educating the next generation of workers.
This week, Amazon joined the program and signed an agreement with the US Department of Labor to create an apprenticeship program designed to aid military veterans as they attempt to re-enter the workforce.
Through ApprenticeshipUSA, veterans can take on paid internships at Amazon and learn the tech skills needed to move into good paying work, while securing the education needed to compete in an increasingly tech-oriented workforce. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has said his goal is to hire 25,000 veterans and their spouses over the next five years. Two thumbs up! https://apprenticeshipusa.workforcegps.org
If you’re looking for something fun to keep the kids occupied, look no further than Google’s new Toontastic 3D app for iOS and Android devices.
With Toontastic 3D, kids can draw, animate and narrate their own adventures, news stories, school reports, and anything else they might dream up. All they need to do is move characters around on the screen and tell their story. The Toontastic app, while designed for kids, is fun for any creative type … it also a great thing for parents to do with the kids.
All a user needs to do is decide the length of your story, (“short” or the longer “classic length), select a background and your set of characters. All that’s left then is animate the players, add voiceovers and narration, and view your creation. Users can also draw their own characters, use their own face for a character’s face, and more. Google says they’ll add more features in the future. The Toontastic 3D app is free and is available for iOS devices in the App Store and Android devices via the Google Play Store.
And finally this week, Super Bowl is February 5th. You’ll be able to watch the big game via the Fox Sports Go app or on the Fox Sports Go website, and best of all it’ll be free. That’s right, no need for a pay-tv login this time. More than that, you’ll be able to watch via Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast and Xbox One in addition to Android, Fire tablets, iOS devices and Windows. Even if you’re without a cable subscription or a means of watching over-the-air TV. Seems network TV really wants everyone to have an opportunity to see the biggest game all year. https://www.foxsportsgo.com/
That’s it this week. Have a great weekend and may God bless you and keep you safe.
